THE PURPOSE FUND

Statement of Purpose: The Purpose Fund aims to support students who have financial hardship that deter continuing education. Portfolio Resident services’ commitment to providing social and cultural enrichment to affordable housing communities through academic and skilled-trade study. 


The Purpose Fund was started to support the students in low to moderate income households through academic and trade-skilled study. The main goal is to support student by engaging with them and their institutions, ensuring students have the resources needed to succeed from enrollment to employment.


The Purpose Fund Scholarship Committee awards scholarships for the purpose of recognizing high school seniors and technical school or college students who actively reside in eligible affordable housing properties that PRS provides community programs to. This scholarship is awarded to students who have shown academic or technical excellence, which is intended to provide financial assistance to student residents attaining their educational and career goals.


The Purpose Fund’s Application Committee awards scholarships to residents of an affordable housing community in which Portfolio Resident Services provides services and meets the following qualifications:


1. Have a family income which is less than 80% of median income in the area in which they reside; AND


2. Have a high school cumulative 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale and attend a technical school or college/university (applicants must provide evidence of an acceptance letter);


3. OR Hold a GED and will attend a technical school or college/university (applicants must provide evidence of an acceptance letter);


4. OR Be an existing student at a technical school or college/university with a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale (applicants must provide evidence of current enrollment and current GPA)
