Operation Back to School 2025: A Nationwide Impact Through Resident Services Partnerships

Every August, families across the country prepare the first day of school. For many, this can be an exciting yet challenging time as the costs of supplies, clothing, and other essentials quickly add up. That’s why our annual Operation Back to School initiative has become a cornerstone of support for affordable housing communities nationwide.

This year, we are proud to share that Operation Back to School 2025 exceeded expectations with more than 310 events hosted across the country in August, powered by the support of over 400 community partners. Together, we raised more than $50,000 in donations, ensuring families had access to school supplies, haircuts, hygiene products, and clothing.

The success of this year’s initiative would not have been possible without the commitment of our partners. National and local organizations came together to pour resources into communities, including:

  • H-E-B and Costco – providing essential school supplies and backpacks.

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield and Medicaid – offering wellness resources and healthcare information to families.

  • Spectrum and AT&T – ensuring students and parents have access to digital resources and connectivity.

  • Access Care Universal – delivering vital healthcare guidance and screenings.

  • Harris County Public Library – connecting families to literacy programs and free learning resources.

  • Bake-A-Wish – bringing joy and encouragement to children and families through special treats and surprises.

These partnerships demonstrate the value of collaboration and the unique ability of our Resident Services Coordinators to connect residents with trusted organizations that understand their needs. None of this would be possible without our Resident Services Coordinators, who worked tirelessly to bring Operation Back to School to life. From organizing events to building relationships with partners, they are the driving force behind the success of these programs. Their dedication ensures families not only start the school year prepared but also feel the ongoing support of their communities.
