Houston, Texas- Portfolio Resident Services, Inc. is excited to announce the organization’s participation in this year’s North Texas Giving Day on September 23, 2021.
North Texas Giving Day is an annual online charity event started in 2009 by the Communities Foundation of Texas that is designed to empower every person to give back to their community by supporting local nonprofits. In 2020, 3,200 local nonprofits participated in the event and 106,000 donors raised $58.8 million for these nonprofits. This year, all funds collected through the event will be donated to PRS’ newly established scholarship program, the Purpose Fund, which aims to extend the PRS commitment through academic and skilled-trade study. The Purpose Fund is grounded on evidence that suggests through supporting students in financial hardship that can deter continuing education, last-dollar funding can enable low income, high-potential students to maximize their potential in the classroom, earn credentials, and sustainably strengthen the communities from which they come. Throughout scholarly experience, the Purpose Fund strives to support recipients by engaging with them and their institutions, insuring they have the resources needed to succeed from enrollment to employment. To donate to PRS and the Purpose Fund on North Texas Giving Day, the giver must visit PRS’ page on the North Texas Giving Day website and click the donate button on September 23.
